Labor-Only Moving Services Moving Help® Offers

Posted: July 16, 2024
Four Moving Help Service Providers carry furniture out of a customer’s home and into their truck rental.

When you need to move, you’ll always have to figure out how and who will help with the packing, loading, unloading, unpacking, and everything else that comes with moving. Wouldn’t it be easier to have someone else help you with your labor-only moving needs?

Enter the Moving Help® Marketplace. Moving Help is a neutral online Marketplace where we connect customers with Service Providers who can assist them with their labor-only moving needs.

Moving Help has many professional moving services to help customers while still keeping their move reliable, affordable, and convenient. Our moving services include:

  1. Loading and unloading moving services
  1. Packing and unpacking moving services
  1. Piano moving services
  1. Gun safe moving services
  1. Cleaning moving services
  1. U-Box® storage containers moving services

1. Loading and Unloading Moving Services

The most common service on the Moving Help Marketplace is paying for two helpers for two hours for loading or unloading moving services.

You can pay for professional moving labor providers who will carry all your items from your home and into your U-Haul truck rental, U-Box container, cargo van, or pickup truck. Not sure what U-Haul truck size you need? You can read our “What U-Haul Truck Size Do I Need?” article or you can ask your Moving Helper.

You don’t have to complete heavy lifting yourself, which will help you avoid injury. Hiring Moving Helpers also means your move will be less stressful, and you won’t have to rely on friends and family.

Another benefit is only needing assistance for loading and unloading. You might have help on one end of your move but not on the other end of your move. You could just hire moving labor Service Providers to load a U-Haul truck rental and then take care of the unloading on your own.

Just keep in mind with labor-only moving providers, they aren’t required to bring any equipment with them, such as a dolly. Most will bring their own dollies, but you should confirm with them ahead of time, so you know what moving equipment you need to rent.

2. Packing and Unpacking Moving Services

Packing is usually a customer’s least favorite part. You have to carefully use bubble wrap, packing paper, moving blankets, or clothing to place into your moving boxes before you use packing paper tape.

After a long day of work from moving, the last task most people want to worry about is unpacking. You can take the stress off your move by having your moving labor crew unload your items and then unpack your belongings for you.

Packing and unpacking moving services give customers peace of mind.

Here are some quick packing tips.

  • Pack from non-essential items first to essential items last.
  • Keep moving boxes under 50 pounds.
  • Remember packing is a marathon, not a sprint.

Here are some quick unpacking tips.

  • Put together your bed and put linens on them first.
  • Unpack the kitchen first or your most important/most used room first.
  • Set up basic toiletries in your bathrooms.

3. Piano Moving Services

Do you own an upright piano, a grand piano, or another type of piano? Well, we have Service Providers who can specifically help you move your piano. You can even specifically search for providers who offer loading or unloading moving services and piano moving services at the same time.

The piano is a delicate instrument that requires careful planning and preparation. You’ll want a game plan with your helpers on how you want to move the piano from inside your home to your rental truck.

Some equipment you might need:

Piano moving services save customers the burden of moving it on their own, or worse, you damage your home and lose part of your security deposit.

Moving Help offers labor-only moving services such as loading or unloading, packing or unpacking, piano moving, gun safe moving, cleaning, and U-Box services.

4. Gun Safe Moving Services

A gun safe or a heavy safe can be complicated to move. The hardest part of dealing with a gun safe is its weight. You have many safety precautions to keep in mind.

You’ll want to thoroughly explain with your Moving Helpers on ensuring the transportation from your home to your rental truck to avoid damage to your belongings or your home. You can specifically search for gun safe moving labor teams on the Moving Help Marketplace.

To stay prepared for gun safe moving services, keep in mind these tips.

  • Use moving blankets
  • Create a game plan with your providers
  • Use an appliance dolly
  • Make sure you prepare all firearms
  • Use stretch wrap
  • Make sure all guns and ammo are removed from the gun safe first
  • Use ratchet straps

5. Cleaning Moving Services

The Moving Help Marketplace has many moving labor providers who offer cleaning moving services. You can hire providers on the Marketplace who only offer cleaning services.

You can discuss what cleaning supplies you need to provide, or if you have an allergy to a cleaning product, and you need them to use a specific product. If you discuss it ahead of time, no one will be surprised come moving day.

Additionally, you’ll receive several benefits for cleaning your home when moving out. If you live in a house, you might be required to leave your home clean when moving out. If you live in an apartment, you’ll want to clean your home yourself or hire our moving labor, so you can receive your entire cleaning deposit back.

Read our “Apartment Cleaning Checklist” article to find out everything you need to clean in your home.

6. U-Box Storage Containers Moving Services

U-Haul has U-Box storage containers, which are portable containers. You can pair Moving Help with U-Box container moving services. By pairing both, you can create a hands-off moving experience. If you already purchased your U-Box containers, you can still add Moving Help after the fact to your U-Box order.

With Moving Help, you have three U-Box services:

  • U-Box delivery only
  • U-Box load or unload
  • U-Box delivery with load or unload
Three labor-only Service Providers begin packing and loading a customer’s belongings in their home.

Here’s a quick explanation of each service:

  • U-Box delivery only: A Service Provider will deliver the storage container to your home. You will pack or unpack your containers yourself. When you’re done, the provider will pick it up and bring it back to the U-Haul location.
  • U-Box load or unload: You or U-Haul will deliver the U-Box storage containers to your home. A provider will load or unload your belongings. Then you or U-Haul bring back the storage containers to the U-Haul location.
  • U-Box delivery with load or unload: A moving labor provider will deliver your container to your home. They’ll load or unload your items. Then they’ll bring it back to the U-Haul location.

Hire labor for your U-Box storage containers because they’ll know best on how much they can fit into each container while also knowing what can’t go in a container.
