We did a storage-to-storage move with boxes of my deceased mother's possessions, many being antiques and items from the 1800's, which I'd discussed about handling carefully. Things went fairly smooth until I looked up and saw Mom's 'hope chest' had been turned up on its end! I freaked out and raised my voice saying to put it down as there were loose items inside. The mover in charge started yelling at me that the 'box looked fine and the wood wasn't falling apart' and 'I needed to calm down'. I was yelling at them that there were things inside that could get broken, but couldn't get through to the chief hardhead, so the day was pretty much shot at that point. My husband, not wanting to get into a confrontation with the man, tried to reason with me instead, later on agreeing that regardless of how upset the customer is in the moment, when the mover is told to put something down...just do it, then discuss why, rather than giving a sarcastic answer which only adds fuel to the fire!!
